Camp Lemieux Emblem

The Emblem of Camp Lemieux shall be two flames of fire in the form of praying hands. The emblem serves to remind us that we should work towards developing a burning desire to worship and love the Lord our God. The flames in the form of tongues of fire also remind us of the gift of the Holy Spirit given to the apostles on the first Pentecost. Acts 2:1-13
The cross between the praying hands is a reminder to us to keep Christ at the centre of everything we do. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Ph. 4:13

Our PAST

Camp Lemieux began in 1950 with a vision of Reverend Richard Lariviere to provide a summer camp for Catholic youth in the former Diocese of Gravelbourg. Camp Lemieux is located on the west shore of Lac Pelletier south of Swift Current, Saskatchewan. As a Knights of Columbus sponsored camp, Camp Lemieux was lovingly run by the KofC for many years before leading the process of forming the inaugural Camp Lemieux Board in 2010 that now includes KofC representation with members-at-large.
We nurture the faith of youth through a Catholic Christian community, participation in the sacraments, and new experiences in an outdoor setting. Our program has a balance of friends, fun, recreation, life skills and faith teachings. Campers are challenged to worship and love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, and strength.

Our PRESENT

Between 2012 and 2017 registrations at Camp Lemieux consistently fell below 100 campers per summer, with ever increasing reliance on sponsorship to attend camp. Our historical model of only employing summer staff is no longer sustainable. We also have an aging infrastructure that is in need of some tender love and care. In response to this need, the Camp Lemieux board made the bold decision to embarked on a journey of revitalization for Camp Lemieux and return us to our humble roots as the go to summer location and home away from home for your families. With the hiring of an Executive Director and the renewed efforts of many of you, the 2018 and 2019 camp seasons saw our camper numbers slowly grow to approximately 200 per summer while we began the large task of updating our programs, facilities and offerings. With your help, we are reflecting on current practices, responding to changing ministry needs, and changing the way we run. Our strategies may change but our mission remains the same...all to ensure a future for the next generation of faith and fun at Camp Lemieux.
